Dr. Spencer B. King, III, a pioneer in the field of interventional cardiology, discusses his legacy in an interview with Dr. Ron Waksman. Dr. King recalls his efforts to recruit Dr. Andreas Gruentzig, who performed the first successful coronary balloon angioplasty, to move to Emory University from Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. King also discusses the development of interventional cardiology into a mature field in its own right, along with the roles he and his colleagues played in that progression.
