Drs. Ron Waksman and Holger Thiele discuss new guidelines for treating patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), which were released during the European Society of Cardiology 2020 virtual congress. Among the changes in guidelines they discuss are how to use high-sensitivity cardiac troponin, elimination of one risk category (moderate) for patients with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), and the role of electrocardiograms in stratifying risk level.
